Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

WHAT IS MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION?

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teaches meditation and gentle yoga to cultivate awareness and reduce stress. MBSR was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and is taught at locations worldwide.

If you’re tired of your racing heart and mind keeping you up at night, struggling with feeling anxious and overwhelmed, feel you’ve lost yourself in the chaos of your life, battle with a merciless and relentless inner critic, and/or you want your life to be different, but you don’t know where to begin, keep reading.

MBSR teaches mindfulness meditation and gentle yoga to increase awareness and reduce stress. You’ll learn how to relax your body, calm your mind chatter, cultivate more peace and joy, make peace with your inner critic, and start living your life more mindfully and intentionally.

Free orientation on Wednesday August 30 at 6pm. Registration for the orientation and course is limited and required. Email Jen to register.

The practice changes people’s lives. It has certainly changed Jen’s life, which is why she loves teaching it so much. Jen Johnson is a mindfulness teacher, personal coach and Licensed Professional Counselor. She has been teaching mindfulness for 30+ years.

MBSR was created on the foundation of the ancient practice of mindfulness, which encourages being fully present in our lives with greater peace and ease. Research indicates that people who participate in an MBSR course report an increased capacity to relax, increased self-esteem, decreased symptoms of anxiety, depression and insomnia, greater energy and enthusiasm for life, improved ability to cope more effectively with stressful situations, reduced pain levels and/or improved ability to cope with pain that may not go away.
