10 Things You Can Do to Discover Your Passion

Discover your passion through considering the following:

  1.     Pay attention to what makes you feel like you’ve connected with your true nature, your sense of who you really are, your aliveness.  

2.     Notice when you feel most at home with yourself.  

3.     Make time for solitude. Listen for what arises in the form of words, images, or ideas.  

4.     Stay open to the slender threads of synchronicity that happen in your life. Sometimes guidance comes from unexpected places or people.  

5.     Look through your favorite magazines for images to which you feel drawn. What clues do these provide?  

6.     Recall the times during your childhood that you felt most alive. What were you doing?  

7.     Meditate. During the meditation, whisper silently to yourself, “What do I love? What matters most?”  

8.     Take an hour or two this week and do something that you wouldn’t typically do and see what happens.  

9.     Engage in creative expression on a regular basis. Write, paint, draw, sculpt. Don’t worry about a perfect outcome, just be creative and see if any new ideas emerge.  

10. Pay attention to your dreams. 

Some may discover your passion quickly in working through these 10 steps, while others may need a more gradual and in depth exploration. You might try exploring these ideas in your mindful writing practice.
