Jen Johnson’s Training and Teaching Background
Jen Johnson’s mindfulness coaching is grounded in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness. She has practiced and taught mindfulness and meditation for more than 40 years and trained directly with Kabat-Zinn through the Center for Mindfulness.
Jen’s teaching is also informed by decades of study and practice in contemplative meditation traditions, including Insight Meditation and Tibetan Buddhist practices.
As an EcoDharma teacher, Jen also explores the relationship between mindfulness, compassion, and our connection with the natural world during a time of ecological change.
Mindfulness coaching essions draw on formal meditation practices — including sitting meditation, body scan, and open awareness meditation — alongside guidance in integrating mindfulness informally into everyday life. Coaching is offered 1:1 via Zoom, worldwide.
Whether you are brand new to mindfulness or have an existing practice you’d like to deepen, Jen meets you where you are.
What is Mindfulness Coaching?
Mindfulness is awareness of the present moment — paying attention to your experience on purpose, with kindness and without judgment.
Through mindfulness practice, you learn to relate differently to difficult thoughts and emotions without avoiding them or becoming overwhelmed by them. Over time this builds resilience, emotional balance, and a greater capacity to notice moments of joy, connection, and ease.
A mindfulness coach teaches and supports you in developing a regular mindfulness practice and integrating it into daily life so it becomes a practical, embodied skill — not just a concept. This supports greater clarity, steadiness, and self-trust in everyday living.
Working with a mindfulness coach who is also trained as a therapist is particularly valuable if you have experienced trauma. A trauma-informed approach ensures the practice supports rather than overwhelms you.
Whatever you rest your attention on grows.
Benefits of Mindfulness Coaching

- Reduce stress, anxiety, and depression
- Increase peace, happiness, and emotional resilience
- Improve attention, concentration, and clarity
