Living Your Full Creative Potential

What does it mean to live your full creative potential? Maybe it means deciding what you want to do in this world and taking the next steps. I’ve decided to join the folks nablogpomo, National Blog Posting Month, for June and post every day. June’s topic is “Jump.” I just registered today and decided to jump in and see what happens.

Many years ago, a friend introduced me to Daily OM. When I saw their website, with daily inspirational text merged with beautiful photographs, I fell in love. My first thought was, “I want to write for them,” and my second thought was, “I’ll never be able to do that.”

Back then, I allowed that limiting belief to stop me from pursuing what I wanted. Several months ago, my friend Kevin wrote to me and suggested that I join forces with Daily OM to offer my online classes. This time, my thought was, “Why not?” I jumped! I was thrilled when they offered me a contract to write an online course about mindfulness and stress reduction. I’ve just submitted the course to their site this week, and it will go live in July or August!

I’ve been on the edge of something new emerging during the past week. You know the feeling. You feel like something old is moving out, and something new is opening up, but you don’t yet know what it is. In part, I think it’s related to finishing the course. Instead of that sense of loss that we creatives can sometimes feel when we complete something, I felt a sense of inspiration from completing it. I felt myself wondering what’s next in connection with the course, wondering where this will lead me.

In addition, I met an incredibly inspiring woman, Rachel, at Folk’s Café a week ago. Her tagline is “Inspiring people to use their voice to change the World.”  Talking for an hour with Rachel was so energizing! It always inspires me to connect with other creative, forward moving people in the world, people who believe that anything is possible and just keep moving toward their dreams. We all need inspiration and encouragement to keep moving toward our full potential. Sometimes the only thing stopping us from living the life that we want is our own self-limiting beliefs.

What are you willing to do today to jump toward living your full creative potential? Try exploring this inquiry in your mindful journaling practice, and see what arises!
