When we are mindfully caring for the body, we create the foundation and set the tone for all that we do in the world. Mindfully caring for the body means eating well, getting adequate sleep and exercise, resting when we are tired, and making time for being in addition to all of the doing.
The decisions that we make regarding caring for the body impact our general physical health and wellbeing, our mood and emotional wellbeing, our self-confidence, our relationships with others, and our performance at work. Why, then, is it so difficult for many people to truly commit to self-care when it comes to the body?
There are likely endless variations of answers to that question, but with honest inquiry, many people find that feeling badly serves as a reason for not moving forward in some aspect of their lives. Take some time this week to gently and wholeheartedly inquire what you feel afraid to fully step into or out of in your life and whether feeling badly is serving as an excuse or an out. Remember to meet whatever you discover with interest and compassion.
To keep the body in good health is a duty…otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear. –Buddha
