Gratitude for Life

Gratitude for life is what I have in my heart and mind today. Today I am celebrating my 50th birthday! I embrace this coming year as a new journey and adventure, each moment as a gift and an opportunity, each laugh line as a fond memory, and each wrinkle as a lesson learned. I feel so incredibly grateful to be alive and well and to be experiencing so many moments of joy and well-being in my life, and I feel so fortunate to be doing the work that I love, which is teaching others how to cultivate more joy and well-being in their lives. I’m so very grateful for each of you for your ongoing support in helping me to fulfill my purpose.

Please celebrate this magnificent day with me by taking two minutes out of your day to check in with the state of your body, heart and mind. See if you can meet whatever you encounter with an attitude of interest and compassion. Now turn that same quality of warmth, tenderness and care toward nature and our planet. Take two minutes to notice something beautiful that fills you with awe. Opportunities for experiencing wonder are all around you if you just pause to notice. See if you can care for yourself and the planet as though you/she were your only child. Take time to feel a sense of gratitude for this reciprocal relationship of nurturing and care that we share with nature and the Earth. Gratitude for life.

The way I see it, every year can be a brand new journey. Think about it: You get one chance to be 25, 38, 44, 61 and every age before and between. Why wouldn’t you want to experience all the wonder in each step on your path?—Oprah Winfrey
