Want to learn how to trust yourself? Each moment that we practice mindfulness, our capacity to trust ourselves increases. As we turn our attention again and again to the state of the body, heart and mind in this moment, we come to know ourselves intimately. We grow to recognize the arising of states of being and the causes and conditions that give rise to them.
As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live. – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
When we see clearly our conditioned patterns of thinking and behaving, we have the freedom to choose something different.
Knowing yourself intimately is the foundation for how to trust yourself. Following self-awareness with action on our own behalf creates additional self-trust. That’s why I’ve recorded a guided meditation for helping you to increase your awareness of your present moment experience — body, heart, and mind / sensations, feelings, and thoughts. It’s a four-minute Meditation for Awareness of the Body, Heart, and Mind. Click here to listen.
When we practice turning our awareness to notice our present moment experience (we experience the present moment through sensations, feelings, and thoughts), we naturally then begin to become curious about what we need based on our present experience. This is happening, now what? becomes a part of our internal self-talk.
Being aware of our needs, speaking up about our needs, and meeting our own needs leads to a greater sense of peace, ease, and satisfaction. It leads to healthier relationships with ourselves and with others.
Try taking time every day to check in with the state of the body, heart and mind. Then ask yourself, given the current state of each, what is called for in this moment.
Warmly,
Jen
