Grief Tending

Tending the Beauty of What Remains

Tending the Beauty of What Remains: A gathering for soul, grief, and the world.

Jen Johnson hosts grief tending vigils online for the general public and for therapists. She is available to offer a grief tending vigil for your organization.

Join us for a quiet, nourishing space where we come together to tend the tender ache of being human in a beleaguered world.

Each gathering offers a gentle rhythm of poetry, reflection, writing (you don’t have to be a writer to participate), and shared presence.

We name and honor the grief we carry — for the Earth, for each other, for what has been lost and is still being lost (personal and collective losses). Through words, silence, and witness, we make space for both sorrow and beauty to be held with compassion.

There is no need to be a writer. Bring your raw words, your broken-heartedness, your questions, your silence. Come as you are.

This is a space where we welcome all types of grief. It is a circle where writing becomes ritual, and where grief is not something to be fixed or pathologized, but tended.

“The work of the mature person is to carry grief in one hand and gratitude in the other and to be stretched large by them. How much sorrow can I hold? That’s how much gratitude I can give.”

Francis Weller, The Wild Edge of Sorrow

Tending the Beauty of What Remains for Therapists

Grief Tending: A gathering for therapists and healthcare practitioners for soul, grief, and the world.

As therapists and healthcare practitioners, we are often companions to grief — holding space for others while carrying our own quiet sorrows. In this gathering, we come together not as clinicians, but as human beings — to write, reflect, and tend what lives tenderly within us.

Each session offers a spacious rhythm of poetry, writing, and community presence. We turn toward the grief we carry — for the world, our clients and patients, our loved ones, and ourselves. Through words and witness, we make space for both sorrow and beauty to be honored and held.

There is no goal but presence. This is a space for restoration, truth-telling, and gentle connection — where grief is not pathologized, but welcomed as part of the soul’s unfolding.

Come as you are. Bring what you carry. Let us write and tend the heart of sorrow, together.
