What is MBSR online?
TheMBSR online 8-week 1:1 course instruction designed to teach you mindfulness practices to help you to recover a sense of peace, happiness, and wellbeing. It teaches mindfulness, meditation, and gentle yoga/stretching practices to increase awareness and reduce stress.
Mindfulness helps us to spend more time focusing on the present moment and less time worrying about the future or regretting the past. The practice can help us to see more clearly the mental habits that create suffering and practice mental habits that help us to feel calmer and more at peace.
MBSR was developed by Jon Kabat Zinn at the Center for Mindfulness. Jen participated in MBSR training with Jon Kabat Zinn PhD through the Center for Mindfulness. Jen Johnson is the instructor for this course. She has been teaching meditation for 30+ years and has been teaching MBSR since 2010.

More about the MBSR program:
MBSR was created in 1979 by Jon Kabat Zinn at Massachusetts Medical Center Center for Mindfulness. It was developed on the foundation of the ancient practice of mindfulness, which encourages being fully present in our lives with greater awareness, peace, and ease. MBSR teaches meditation and gentle yoga practices. These effective practices and strategies have been shown to increase a sense of peace, happiness, and wellbeing.
Research indicates that some of the benefits of mindfulness that MBSR course participants experience include an increased capacity to relax, increased self-esteem, decreased symptoms of anxiety, depression and insomnia, greater energy and enthusiasm for life, increased stress resilience, pain relief, and pain management.
Mindfulness meditation has been shown to improve a sense of physical wellbeing as well as improve a sense of mental health. We now have several decades of research from the Center for Mindfulness and other research centers that shows the positive impact that participation in a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course can have on one’s daily life. Paying attention with nonjudgmental awareness in this 8-week course serves as a foundation for creating a regular mindfulness practice and a more healthy relationship with yourself and others. Taking an MBSR course is a great starting place or intermediate step toward a regular mindful meditation practice nurturing your mental health.
Testimonials for Jen Johnson’s MBSR online course
I joined Jen Johnson’s online MBSR course in the midst of a challenging international transition and work situation. I was hesitant to do so because my time was very restricted, and I was not sure I could commit to the coursework. But I was positively surprised. The more the course materials came in, the more I was happy when I saw the emails. I felt relieved and lovingly/caringly supported during a challenging transition. I felt well informed and lead to stay grounded and resourced the whole time. Whenever I listened to the guided meditation recordings, I felt that Jen’s stable, calm, and straight forward voice was leading me well, and I felt held and guided to really stay in connection with myself. I could lean into the experience of “no fear of getting lost in anything” because the next moment of a guided exercise for sure was bringing me back home. So my time investment was well spent. The guided practices and the simple, yet supportive written lessons gave me everything I needed to do the practice effortlessly. Jen is an experienced leader, and her style is authentic, straightforward and effective. I’ll go back to this guide for my next challenge.

MBSR with Jen Johnson was an amazing online class that will bring you to a place of resolve, relaxation, and restoration. There is a lot of work to do in the eight weeks, but set aside the time and your mind, body and soul will thank you. This course is about reclaiming your mind which will affect how you feel on an everyday basis, which in turn help you to be a better you for yourself and everyone else you come in contact with. Enjoy the season of eight weeks with Jen just like I did.

Jen Johnson’s online Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction class is an incredible introduction to mindfulness – whether you are a teacher looking to expand your capabilities, or a student looking to connect more deeply to your own life. Many of us race from event to event, meeting to meeting, and experience to experience, never feeling fully present in our own lives except in those rare moments in a yoga class when everything seems to coalesce perfectly; our breath, our body, our mind – all focused and in the moment. In the Yoga Sutras, the sage Patanjali wrote: Yogash citta vritti nirodha. (yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind). Jen’s class gives you the tools, the methods and the opportunity to practice mindfulness to make it a more permanent part of your waking life. Well-written instruction, helpful videos, interesting exercises in reflection, and a constant deepening of mindfulness made this an excellent course for me. The real challenge in a yoga class is not the fancy inversions or complex arm balances, but the simple acts of being present, being mindful, tying breath to movement, clearing the mind of fluctuations and distractions and arriving in the present moment. Jen’s class can help you find that place more easily, more often, and more deeply.
