What’s going well in your life? Our brain has a negativity bias, so it tends to focus more time and attention on what is perceives as going wrong than it does on what it perceives as going right. Inclining our mind toward the positive can help us to feel a greater sense of peace, happiness, and wellbeing.
I’m not suggesting that we gloss over the difficult events in our lives. It’s equally important to become more skillful at being with what we perceive as unpleasant or difficult events. But it’s also important to make time to focus on the good in our lives and savor that. Both of these practices can help us to better deal with times of uncertainty and become more resilient during difficult times.
So what’s going well in your life? Try writing it down, and maybe even try focusing a few moments on feeling grateful for what’s going well. Drop me a note and let me know what happens in your day as a result!
