Letting go can bring an enormous sense of spaciousness and freedom. Sometimes we cling to things, because we find comfort in the familiar and we cling to objects or memories in hopes of soothing ourselves during moments of fear or anxiety.
In practicing letting go, we remind ourselves that life really is about being present in each passing moment. It’s not about finding safety or security in things, in what was, in what we hoped would be. Life is about being right here, right now, and cultivating the heart to be present to what arises in each passing moment. This attitude can help us to be more resilient during difficult times.
Pause. Breathe. Let go into this moment. Feel the breath as it enters and leaves the body. Notice the rise and fall of the chest and belly with each inhale and exhale. Sense into your growing capacity to be present with whatever arises in this moment and the next.
