Taking a Fresh Perspective

A fresh perspective can help us to see ourselves and our lives more clearly. It’s easy to become stuck in a rut of routine, but sometimes introducing something a bit more colorful into our days can shake things up and help us to see things differently.

Our mind’s tendency is to develop habitual patterns—to hold on to a certain way of perceiving things, to get stuck in reactivity, or to cling to a routine in the interest of attempting to feel safe.

Try seeing the world from a fresh perspective today, simply by noticing the beautiful colors that surround you, and see what happens. Pause, and allow yourself to really take in the experience of your perception of color. Notice how you feel in your body, heart, and mind.

Sometimes we can’t even see our present moment experience clearly, because we’re amped up or in fight or flight stress reactivity, and our thinking brain has gone offline. Activating the parasympathetic nervous system by taking a few deep breaths and calming our body and focusing our mind can help tremendously with changing perspective.

Learning how to see ourselves and our lives from different perspectives can support us in being more resilient in uncertain or difficult times. Growing our inner resiliency, we create inner resources for tough times.
