Breathe in Hope

Breathe in hope. When you meditate, practice breathing in hope and breathing out despair. I hear stories every day about people who feel afraid, inadequate, incapable, overwhelmed, uncertain, unlovable, unworthy, or confused. These same people seem utterly convinced that they must be defective, that everyone else gets along just fine.

We are all struggling with something. We can find comfort in our shared human condition and refuge in the breath of each passing moment. When reflecting on a sense of shared humanity, we feel less alone in the struggle. In this sense of connection, we find hope. We are all enough, lovable, and worthy of belonging. Breathe in hope. Breathe out suffering.

It’s not about you. It’s about us. Life is difficult for everyone. –Jack Kornfield
