The cure for anything is salt water—sweat, tears or the sea.—Isak Denison
When the heart aches under the weight of loss, the tendency is to contract and turn away. Healing comes from turning toward, softening into loss and opening the heart to the ache of losing something precious. Tears of sadness, like waves, cleanse and heal.
Pause. Notice the feelings.
Ask yourself, “What am I feeling?”
Breathe
Name the feeling silently to yourself
Ask yourself, “Where am I feeling it in the body?”
Notice the sensations. Name them.
Rest your attention on the sensation. Feelings arise in the present moment through sensations in the body. Allow the feelings to rise, swell, crest and fall like a wave. Observe it happen, and keep breathing. This is how we have a feeling without it having us. If tears come, allow them to come. The cure for anything is salt water.
