You mindfulness journey toward peace and wellbeing can be an amazing awakening. At times we all become entangled in the busyness of the daily grind and in the habit of bracing ourselves against the challenges of our lives. We may believe that if we keep up the grueling pace, we’ll one day come out ahead. It seldom works this way, and often keeping up a grueling pace eventually results in the deterioration of our well-being.
When we mark upon a mindfulness journey, we begin to slow down to practice being present in the moment. Though it may seem counterintuitive, try taking some down time every day to rest and engage in something that renews your spirit. It may be practicing two minutes of formal meditation, pausing to notice something beautiful in the natural world, engaging in creative expression, or taking a brief walk in nature during your lunch our and noticing the sights and sounds that surround you. Slow down. Breathe. Life is not about racing to get to the finish line. It’s about savoring the journey. Meditation for healing your mind body and soul can support a greater sense of peace, happiness, and resilience.
