Creating Mindful Intentions

Creating mindful intentions can help us to live more consciously, mindfully, and intentionally. When we set clear intentions for our day, week, month, year, and indeed our entire lives, this practice helps us to keep what matters most in mind and take clear action toward creating a life that we love.

Years ago I began setting mindful intentions at the beginning of the year, then expanding the practice to set monthly, weekly, and daily intentions that relate back to my annual intentions. This practice has helped me to stay on track with creating a life that feels meaningful and creatively inspired.

Live intentionally. Choose how your life unfolds.

When we set mindful intentions, we take a broad perspective of our lives and consider how we want to feel every day – in our body, heart, and mind- and then we go from there. Once we figure out how we want to feel every day, we can begin to create intentions for our lives that support that desired feeling.

You may find it useful to meditate and do some mindful journaling in response to these inquiries about your intentions for the coming year:

How do you want to feel this year –in your body, heart, and mind?

What practices or habits do you need to include or exclude in order to support the cultivation of that feeling?

What matters most to you at this time in your life?

What intentions do you want to realize in your personal life? In your work life?

What intentions do you want to create related to your overall wellness this year?

What does it mean to live mindfully and intentionally? For me, it means arriving at the end of the day, week, month, and year, and ultimately arriving at the end of my life, being able to say that I lived consciously and in a way that was meaningful and fulfilling. It means that I have in large part chosen how my life unfolds. Living intentionally means that I decide how I want to feel and put focused effort toward doing things that cultivate that feeling. It entails being thoughtful about who or what matters most to me and putting most of my energy toward those people and things.

One of the taglines for my business is “Live intentionally: choose how your life unfolds.” May we all do just that.

Wishing you a year filled with peace, happiness, and wellbeing,

Jen
